Furniture Refinishing 101 Class

Service Description

This class is for beginners. Come learn the basics of furniture refinishing. Bring your own small piece of furniture if you like. Chair, Nightstand, side table, etc. What can you expect from this class? You Will...… 1.Learn how to clean your piece using White Lightening and Scuff Sanding. 2.Learn how to apply pre-paint sealant and/or primer if required. 3.Learn how to paint without brush strokes and clumping with maximum adhesion. 4.Learn how to prepare your piece for top coating after painting, for your desired finish. 5. Learn how to top coat your piece for long term protection of your hard work. You can plan on taking your piece home once your piece has dried, usually a 15-30 mins. **If your interested in glazing, distressing, waxing, blending, hardware refinishing, or any other advanced techniques, then you'll want to sign up for my advance techniques course. This 101 course does not cover any advanced techniques. ***If you don't want to bring your own piece of furniture don't worry, I will provide project wood slabs for you to practice with, or I may have small inexpensive project pieces for sell. Any additional products you wish to take home with you can be purchased before or after class. If I don't have the products you desire or need in stock, I will immediately place an order with Dixie Belle once payment has been received. It typically takes 7-14 business days for the orders to arrive, I will contact you. PLEASE READ: I will supply all the Dixie Belle paint, products, tools and equipment required for this class. I will also supply aprons for everyone, but I recommend you wear paint clothes, furniture refinishing gets messy. I will also provide complimentary snacks, beer and wine as a courtesy to all adults over the age of 21. I do have a private restroom on site. I do have central air and heat. I have plenty of close parking and close overflow parking. We are ground floor and no stairs to climb. No children under the age of 14 will be allowed to take the class. All persons in the class during class hours should be here to take the class, no spectators or children please. Space is limited and not safe for unattended children. The class could run over the allotted scheduled time depending on product dry times. I use fans and heat guns to assist in dry times when necessary.

Cancellation Policy

To cancel or reschedule please contact us within 24 hours of the class time. I can reschedule you to another class time or refund your class fee. It will take 7-10 business days for refunds to go through. If you bring your own small piece of furniture to work with during the class, you must be able to carry the piece into the shop, through the front door without the assistance of a dolly or another person helping you, space is limited. If the piece is too large you won't be able to bring into the class and we will provide you with wood slabs to work on for the class. We exclusively use and sell Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint products for all of our furniture refinishing classes. We do not use or sell Dixie Belles Terra Cota or Silk paint lines at this time. If your desired class project is not completed during the allotted class time and you wish to finish your project at home, you can purchase your desired Dixie Belle products from us. If we do not have your desired products in stock we will immediately order them for you once full payment for your products has been received. We typically receive our Dixie Belle orders within 7-14 business days once ordered. We are not responsible for any piece of furniture you own that you choose to bring to our classes to work on and practice with. We will guide you through each step as you work on your piece during the class. You choose your color/colors and any other Dixie Belle products you desire to use on your piece. The Furniture Refinishing 101 Class for beginners does not teach techniques for distressing, glazing, waxing, blending, transfers, etc. these advanced techniques are offered in our 102 class if your interested in learning them. The Furniture Refinishing Class 102 is not for beginners and does not teach prepping, painting or top coating. Make sure you read the descriptions for each class and book the class you need.
